Azerbaijan is considering the introduction of a visa-free regime for Japanese citizens. The announcement was made by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, following talks with his Japanese counterpart in Tokyo.
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the initiative is intended to simplify travel between the two countries, encourage business exchanges, support tourism growth, and strengthen people-to-people connections.
The Japanese side welcomed Azerbaijan’s decision to introduce a unilateral visa-free regime for Japanese citizens for a period of one year. Both parties also reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating mutual travel and expanding bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan and Japan confirmed their shared intention to further strengthen their partnership and explore new areas of cooperation in the coming years.
Special attention was given to the upcoming 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which will be celebrated in 2027. Both sides noted that the anniversary will provide an excellent opportunity to highlight the achievements of bilateral cooperation while also identifying ambitious new directions for future collaboration.
